John Pirkis trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in the United Kingdom, studied Meisner with the Los Angeles based Meisner Center at Sanford Meisner's original school in Bequia, Caribbean, and the Alba Emoting and Feldenkrais techniques at the University of Montreal in Canada. For over forty years John has appeared internationally on stage, and on screen.
Featuring in many established British TV Dramas, including playing, 'Freddie Chalk Marshall' opposite Hugh Laurie in two seasons of the award winning, Jeeves and Wooster, and featuring in Films such as, The Young Victoria opposite, Emily Blunt and Gold with Matthew McConaughey, as well as appearing on the West End stage, and theatres throughout the United Kingdom opposite such greats as, Susannah York and Clive Rowe.
In 2002 John co-founded the multi-award winning, Theatre 503 in London; "the home of cutting edge new writing", and afforded the title, 'Arguably Britain's most important theatre'. For this achievement, John received recognition as one of the top 100 people to have contributed the most to British theatre in the Stage100. Subsequently actors, writers and directors showcasing their work at Theatre 503 have won many accolades, including the Olivier Award for Best Play in 2010 for Katori Hall's, MOUNTAINTOP. Theatre 503 continues to grow from strength to strength, with John still associated as ambassador.
John currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, the French actress and director, Cécile Delepière.
John’s latest film, the as yet Untitled Feature by David O’Russell, to be released in 2022, saw John working alongside Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, JD Washington and Mike Myers. John is currently a recurring guest artist in the second season of Paramount+ & Nickelodeon’s Star Trek Prodigy in the role of Borum..
